At the 15-week mark, your pregnancy journey is showcasing visible changes and new experiences with your body's adaptation to support your growing baby.

Breast Changes: Continuous growth in breast size is noted as your body prepares for future breastfeeding needs.

Gas: Heightened bloating can be more frequent, attributed to hormonal changes affecting digestion.

Vaginal Discharge: An uptick in vaginal discharge during this stage is normal, serving as a protective barrier against infections.

Weight Gain and Belly Growth: An expected weight increase and a more pronounced baby bump are common, marking your pregnancy's progress.

Pregnancy Glow: Many expectant mothers notice an enhanced skin appearance, often referred to as the "pregnancy glow," thanks to increased blood circulation and hormonal influences.

Your body is growing to accommodate your baby's development. You may notice some changes in your skin, but it's all part of this incredible journey.

Is it normal?
Belly Growth: The expansion of your belly is a direct reflection of your baby's growth. This experience varies widely among expectant mothers, with some showcasing an earlier visible bump than others. The pace and manner of this growth are influenced by individual physical factors and the body's adaptation to pregnancy.

Gas and Bloating: Hormonal shifts, particularly the increase in progesterone, can decelerate the digestive process, leading to gas accumulation and bloating. Additionally, the uterus's expansion exerts pressure on the intestines, contributing to these discomforts.

Breast Changes: Preparing for potential breastfeeding, the breasts undergo significant changes, becoming larger and fuller. This transformation is akin to the body gearing up a 'milk production factory,' a natural preparation regardless of the choice to breastfeed.

Pregnancy Glow: The renowned 'pregnancy glow' is attributable to a 30-50% increase in blood volume and enhanced blood circulation, alongside hormonal influences that heighten oil gland activity. These factors collectively brighten and add a sheen to the complexion.

Vaginal Discharge Increase: A rise in vaginal discharge during pregnancy is a typical response to hormonal changes and increased blood flow to the pelvic region. This discharge serves a protective role, safeguarding the vaginal canal from infections.
Top Asked Questions
Top 5 questions answered
When will my belly button start to pop out?

It can happen anytime in the second or third trimester.

Is it safe to get a massage while pregnant?

Yes, as long as you go to a licensed professional who is trained in prenatal massage.

When should I start shopping for baby items?

Most want to wait until they have reached the second trimester and also when they have found out the gender to make for an easier shopping experience.

When should I start thinking about childbirth classes?

It's a good idea to start researching and signing up for classes now.

How many ultrasounds will I get?

At least 1 is required but with most healthy pregnancies you get 2. If your pregnancy is high risk or there are complications, you will receive as many as the doctor feels is necessary.

Taking care of yourself
Adjustable Waist Extenders: Before transitioning to maternity wear, consider using waist extenders for your pants. These handy accessories provide the extra room needed for your expanding belly, ensuring comfort without significant expense.
Mindful Eating: To minimize gas and bloating, which become more prevalent as your pregnancy progresses, it's advisable to limit the intake of gas-inducing foods such as beans, broccoli, cabbage, onions, and carbonated beverages. Opting for smaller, more frequent meals can also mitigate discomfort.
Supportive Bra Selection: Breast changes necessitate a supportive bra tailored to the evolving needs of your body. Look for bras with wider straps for balanced weight distribution, ensuring they provide ample support without constricting or irritating your skin.
Opt for Cotton Underwear: Cotton underwear is preferable during pregnancy, promoting air circulation around the vagina and reducing moisture buildup. This simple choice can significantly lower the risk of infections, contributing to overall genital health.
Teaser for next week
