Your body at 14 weeks of pregnancy

Your body at 14 weeks
You've completed the first trimester and are well on your way to meeting your precious little bundle of joy!
As you progress through your pregnancy, you might experience a few symptoms that can be a little challenging, but fear not.
Let's talk about a few of them and how to handle them.

Symptoms of the week
Fatigue

Nausea and Vomiting

Breast changes

Increased urination

Your appetite is back!
Although you are ready to chomp your teeth in your favorite meals, you may be noticing some new symptoms. Red, swollen, sore and bleeding gums.
They may be feeling extra-sensitive.
Some blood may also start trickling down your nose, out of nowhere.
Did you forget about a doctor’s appointment?
Or maybe you can’t remember where you put your car keys?
This is the famous pregnancy symptom called Pregnancy Brain - and it's not a legend!
Next, there are varicose veins.
These can pop up on your legs and might look a little weird.
Lastly, occasional headaches might succeed and cause some moderate pain.
Consider nutritious snacks to satisfy those pregnancy cravings. This is typically a quieter week in terms of tests, focusing more on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

What's happening right now?
Pregnancy can be quite the adventure!
Let's chat about some common issues you might be experiencing.
Bleeding Gums
Those pesky pregnancy hormones can cause gingivitis, making your gums more sensitive and prone to bleeding. Keep up with your dental hygiene routine and be gentle when brushing or flossing.
Bloody Noses
Nosebleeds are common (1 out of 5 pregnant women get them) due to increased blood volume and sensitive nasal passages. They’re usually harmless, but if bleeding lasts longer than 10 minutes, call your doctor.
Pregnancy Brain
Feeling forgetful? That's "pregnancy brain." Hormones affect your memory and focus, making you feel a bit scattered. It's normal and temporary, so don't stress.
Varicose Veins
Varicose veins might appear, especially in your legs, due to increased blood volume and pressure. They’re not pretty but are normal and usually painless.
Headaches
Hormonal changes, stress, fatigue, and dehydration can cause headaches.
Stay hydrated and manage stress.
Avoid self-medicating and consult your doctor if headaches get bad.
You're doing an amazing job, and these symptoms are all part of the journey.
Always consult your healthcare provider if you’re concerned.
Top asked questions
What can I do to prevent stretch marks??

While there's no guaranteed way to prevent stretch marks, staying hydrated, eating a healthy diet, and using moisturizing lotions and oils can help.

When can I start feeling better from morning sickness?

Symptoms typically improve after the first trimester.

What's the best way to sleep?

Sleeping on your side, particularly your left side, is the best position for sleeping during pregnancy. This can help improve blood flow to your baby and relieve pressure on your organs.

When will I start to feel my baby move?

Most women feel their baby's first movements between weeks 16 and 25 of pregnancy, but it can vary. You may feel fluttering sensations or quickening as your baby grows and becomes more active.

How much weight should I be gaining during pregnancy?

Weight gain during pregnancy can vary depending on your pre-pregnancy weight and health. In general, a woman with a healthy pre-pregnancy weight should expect to gain 25-35 pounds during pregnancy.

Taking care of myself
Occasional headaches? No problem! Take some time to rest and drink plenty of water (at least 10 8-ounces glasses per day), and don't be afraid to pop a Tylenol if needed (and only if your doctor approves it).
Varicose veins? Elevate those legs, use some compression stockings, and get moving with some light exercise. You'll be back on your feet in no time.
Pregnancy brain? Don't sweat it, mama. Write down your to-do list and set reminders on your phone to help you stay organized. You're doing amazing, even if you forget where you left your keys!
Bloody noses? No need to panic! Keep your nasal passages moist with a saline spray or humidifier, and try not to pick or blow your nose too forcefully. You'll be breathing easy in no time.
Bleeding gums? Brush (using a softer toothbrush) and floss those pearly whites regularly, and treat yourself to a professional cleaning if needed.
Tips of the week

I had acid reflux really bad with first baby even in first trimester. It felt like my upper stomach had a ton of pressure and was tight. Didn’t get the heartburn portion until second trimester. Is that what you are feeling? Your doc might have some recommendations to help!

I was extremely sick almost my entire pregnancy. I have to take zofran on a daily basis for nausea but I didn’t stop throwing up until I was 26 weeks. Some women are just more sick unfortunately

I know it’s too early but I swear I thought I felt my baby moving earlier. Is that even possible at 14w?

I’m 18 weeks & have had this since I was 13 weeks, asked my ob about it & they said it’s completely normal, it’s called leukorrhea. Just keep an eye on it and any changes in the color! 🫶🏻

I went through this twice mama. I know how scary it can be. Be thankful to God and Jesus that he can heal all things and have faith it will heal completely. That’s the best advice I can give other than please get lots of rest, like no sex, no walking if you don’t have to and take vitamin c and drink lots of water.

My doctor prescribed me 80mg aspirin I guess it’s safe to take low doses of it. I say if your doctor says it’s okay to give it a try.
