The zygote (a fertilized egg) undergoes multiple divisions to form a blastocyst.
By the end of the 4th week, you have a tiny embryo that's about the size of a poppy seed.
At this point, height isn't really a relevant measure; instead, doctors talk about crown-to-rump length.
By the end of the 6th week, your little one is already about a quarter of an inch long.
Week 4: Blastocyst stage, less than 0.1 inches
Week 5: Embryo starts to take shape, approximately 0.13 inches
Week 6: About a quarter of an inch long
A Growth Spurt: Mid-Pregnancy Marvels
As you transition into your second trimester, your baby really starts to stretch out.
The crown-to-rump length gives way to a new measurement: crown-to-heel length, to get a full picture of your baby’s height.
During this period, your baby’s skeletal system is forming, providing the framework for future growth.
The good news? Your little one will roughly triple in height during this trimester!
Around week 20, many moms feel the first flutters of fetal movement, also known as quickening, which is a sign that the baby is actively growing and flexing those tiny muscles.
Week 13-15: 3-4 inches long
Week 16-18: 4.5-5.5 inches long
Week 19-21: 6-7 inches long, you may start to feel baby’s movements!
The Final Countdown: Preparing to Meet Your Baby
Here we are, the third trimester!
It's almost time to meet your baby, and he or she is busy putting on weight and growing taller.
The crown-to-heel length is now your standard measure, and you might be amazed to hear that your baby will likely reach a length of 18-20 inches by the end of this period.
This growth is vital as it prepares your baby for life outside the womb, and the respiratory and digestive systems are finishing their final touches.
Baby might even start settling into a head-down position, getting ready for the big day!
Week 28-30: 14-16 inches long
Week 31-33: 16-18 inches long
Week 34-36: 17-19 inches long, getting ready for birth
A Note on Variability: Every Baby is Unique
Don't fret if your baby’s height doesn't align perfectly with these numbers.
Babies grow at their own unique pace, and factors like genetics, nutrition, and maternal health can all play a role.
Ultrasounds provide an estimated measurement, but they are not 100% accurate.
Always consult your healthcare provider for the most accurate and personalized advice regarding your pregnancy.
Remember, the numbers are just guidelines; what's most important is a healthy mom and a healthy baby.
Ultrasounds: Offer estimated measurements, not exact numbers
Genetics: Can influence your baby’s height
Nutrition and Maternal Health: Play a crucial role in baby’s growth
Your journey is as unique as your baby.
Keep this guide handy, but remember, each pregnancy is its own beautiful story.

Had a 32 week ultrasound and was told baby’s belly was measuring in the 89th percentile. Has anyone else experienced this and what was the outcome after your 36 week ultrasound? Did you have baby sooner or were you monitored more? #32weeks #ultrasound #bigbellybqby #curious
Yes. Had my baby 39w 1 day, but he was small.... 6lbs 8 oz. His head and belly was measuring way ahead. I was glad he was not big because I was able to have him vaginally.

GM ladies, where are my May 1 and on mama at? I want to see what time, weight and height of the baby? And your original due date. Here’s mine. Hes was a May 11 baby but was born May 1 at 5:06pm and weighted 8lbs 12oz and 21.25 in. He’s one week today!
Just ordered and recieved the baby doppler! And I was able to find the baby and hear the heart beat at 8.5 weeks at home! (praise God). After a miscarriage exactly a year ago, this doppler is exactly what I needed for my rainbow pregnancy. My smile came back after worrying week after week.
In a similar situation.. and thought it would help with my anxiety & fear since we’ve had multiple losses so I ordered one but it doesn’t work 😩… maybe I’ll try your link & order that one 🤞🏽
Congratulations on your rainbow baby!!!! 🎉🎉🎉
