When you hire a nanny to care for your precious children, it's crucial to make expectations clear from day one.
Open and honest communication sets the foundation for a successful and harmonious relationship between you and your nanny.
Whether it's regarding housework, meal preparation, or other responsibilities, ensure that both parties are on the same page to avoid misunderstandings and ensure a positive experience for everyone involved.
Care โ Really Care โ About Your Nanny ๐ค
Treating your nanny as a valued member of your family goes a long way in fostering a strong and caring relationship.
Show genuine concern for their well-being, both mentally and physically.
A happy and healthy nanny will be better equipped to provide the best care for your children.
Pamper Her ๐
Acknowledging your nanny's hard work and dedication can be as simple as pampering her with thoughtful gestures.
Consider taping her favorite shows on TiVo for some relaxation time, keep her favorite snacks on hand, or celebrate her birthday with a personal gift and a heartfelt card.
These small acts of kindness show that you truly appreciate her presence in your family's life.
Donโt Get in Her Way ๐ง
Respect your nanny's expertise and experience in childcare, even if her methods differ slightly from your own. Grant her autonomy to make decisions when you're not around, and ensure that your children understand that her word is final in your absence.
Trusting her judgment creates a smoother and more harmonious environment for everyone.
Be Generous ๐ธ
Recognize and appreciate your nanny's hard work and dedication with generosity.
Consider an end-of-year bonus or an annual pay raise as a token of your gratitude.
Going the extra mile to be fair and generous will likely result in a happy and motivated nanny who feels valued and appreciated.
Pick Your Battles โ๏ธ
While clear communication is essential, it's also essential to choose your battles wisely.
Focus on addressing significant issues rather than nitpicking minor concerns.
By being selective in your requests and critiques, you can have a more significant impact when there is something important you'd like your nanny to address.
Final Thoughts
Establishing a strong and positive relationship with your nanny is essential for a happy and fulfilling experience for both your family and the caregiver.
By being clear about your expectations, expressing appreciation, and fostering open communication, you create an environment of trust and respect.
A happy and supported nanny will undoubtedly provide the best care for your children, allowing you to have peace of mind while you attend to your other responsibilities. ๐ค๐

We visited great great nanny today! Nanna just loves her & hates to see her leave. She cries every time. ๐
Calling all Working moms/moms to be!
I am currently 15 weeks (first baby) and I want to pick your brains on how soon you needed childcare after maternity leave is up. Most importantly, if you didnโt have family to help- what did you do? How did you build trust with a stranger to have them be your nanny?
My husband and I live about 16hrs from any family and our friends are actually not planning to have any kids of their own. We both work full time and cannot afford to be stay at home mom or dad. So Iโm forced to hire a nanny but Iโm feeling over over protective already and our baby isnโt even here yet! Not to mention financials are overwhelming!
Personally I would check their references, do a back ground check as well. Their history could tell you a lot. Good luck ๐ค It is very hard to leave a newborn. โค๏ธ
