Childbirth: how do you know when you are in labor?
As a first-time mom, you may be worried about whether you can tell the difference between true and false labor. Don't panic, just follow the guide.
- Your contractions will be painful and regular.
- They will first appear every 30 minutes, becoming more and more intense and longer, from 15 seconds to sometimes a minute.
- Then, these contractions will get closer together, every 5 minutes on average, lasting 30 to 45 seconds each.
- Some moms-to-be break their water. It can be sudden or constant, sometimes leaking for several hours.
- In all cases, painful and regular contractions or water loss should lead you to the maternity ward where you will be taken care of by the midwives who will carry out a complementary examination.
