My baby at 13 weeks of pregnancy

Your Baby at 13 Weeks
Length
3.42
Weight
1.52
Your baby is now the size of a clementine: measuring in around 3.5 inches long from head to rump and weighing in at about 1.5 ounces.

What's new this week?

Your baby is now able to use facial muscles and is practicing to squint, pout, make a pucker or smile at you.

You probably don’t feel it yet but your baby's eyes are starting to move, and those little legs and arms are starting to flex. These movements also allow your baby to practice the important skill of moving hands to mouth.

Your baby’s skin is thickening too. You’ll have to wait and see if your baby will be born with a full head of hair or not, but right now, hair follicles are forming under the surface of the skin.

This week, your baby’s genitals will be fully developed but are still a little to small to be seen on the ultrasound. But in some cases, you might get lucky and see them!

Your baby's body is also getting more proportional, so they're not going to look like a bobblehead for much longer.

Their intestines are finally moving into their abdomen, so soon enough they'll be able to digest all those delicious breastmilk or formula meals you're gonna whip up for them.

And let's not forget about that growing brain of theirs. They're generating over 100,000 new neurons every minute. So not only are they growing physically, but they're also becoming smarter by the minute.

Just remember, every baby develops at their own pace, so don't stress too much if your baby isn't hitting every milestone exactly when the pregnancy books say they should.

As long as you're getting regular checkups with your doctor, your baby will be just fine.

Helping your baby's development
Here are some suggestions:

  • Practice good hygiene: Good hygiene, including regular hand washing, can help prevent infections that could be harmful to the baby.
  • Practice pelvic floor exercises: Pelvic floor exercises, such as Kegels, can help support the baby and reduce the risk of complications during and after childbirth for both you and baby.
  • Get a flu shot: Pregnant women are at increased risk for complications from the flu, so getting a flu shot is recommended.
  • Avoid exposure to harmful chemicals: Pregnant women should avoid exposure to harmful chemicals, such as pesticides, cleaning products and beauty products, that can be harmful to the baby. Check those labels and try to choose those that contain natural ingredients.

Stay connected with loved ones: Having a strong support system can help reduce stress and support your emotional well-being during pregnancy.

What exactly can you feel? Bc I've thought I felt something but not sure. I've been told it's uncommon to feel anything this early and that you usually start feeling movement in weeks 17 to 22. Pls let me know

I asked the nurse before so I didn’t seem rude she said it wasn’t allowed but she’d allow a quick video when she said to this is when she told me I could pull the camera out

It could happen. A lot of people get nipt test done and it ends up being wrong when they go in for an anatomy scan. Nipt test is not always accurate

A lot of people have told me I’m not showing, but it might just be my baggy clothes. I don’t have a big bump yet just a small one that’s not very noticeable.

It seems from what you said your baby is only a week and 3 days behind on measurements . I think that’s enough room for it to catch up. Fingers crossed for you hun! Did you discuss this concern with your doctor? If so what did they say?
