My baby at 11 weeks of pregnancy

Your Baby at 11 Weeks
As big as a plum
Length
2.13
Weight
.49
At 11 weeks, your baby has reached the size of a fig, measuring about 2 to 2¼ inches in length and weighing approximately 0.5 ounces.

This stage of pregnancy brings significant developmental milestones and a reduced risk of miscarriage following the detection of the baby's heartbeat during your prenatal visits.
What's new this week?
Baby’s Changes Overview
Open 3D Baby to see all changes
  • Digit Differentiation: Fingers and toes are becoming more distinct as they begin to separate further.

  • Facial Development: The baby's face is adopting a more recognizable human-like appearance, with bone structures forming to define facial features.

  • Proportional Growth: The head now constitutes one-third of the baby's body, indicating rapid brain development.

  • Digestive Development: The intestines are relocating from the umbilical cord back to the abdomen, a crucial step for the digestive system's functionality. The production of meconium marks the intestines' readiness to process waste.

  • Immune System Activation: The bone marrow is actively producing white blood cells, preparing the baby's immune system to combat germs after birth.

  • Heart Rate: The fetal heart rate is robust, ranging between 120 and 160 beats per minute, a reassuring sign of vitality and health.
With your baby resembling the size of a lime, it's an opportune time to incorporate gentle stretching exercises into your routine.

Helping your baby's development
  • Consistent Vitamin Intake: If morning sickness had interrupted your vitamin regimen, it's crucial to resume or start taking prenatal vitamins, ensuring they contain essential nutrients like folic acid for neural tube development.

  • Physical Activity: With your energy levels beginning to rise, engage in gentle exercises such as walking, prenatal yoga, or swimming to benefit both your and your baby's health.

  • Plan a Babymoon: Consider planning a babymoon, a relaxing getaway before the arrival of your baby, as you move past the initial phase of morning sickness.

  • Hydration Varieties: If you're growing tired of plain water, diversify your fluid intake with smoothies, teas, soda water, and mocktails to meet the recommended daily hydration needs.
Top Asked Questions

You can start looking for maternity clothing when you begin to feel uncomfortable in your regular clothes. Many women start shopping for maternity wear around the end of the first trimester.

Folic acid is crucial for preventing birth defects in the baby's neural tube. It's essential to continue taking prenatal vitamins with folic acid throughout pregnancy.

Can I continue with my regular skincare routine?

Most skincare products are safe to use during pregnancy, but it's advisable to consult with your healthcare provider or dermatologist to ensure they are suitable for pregnancy.

Okay. Can we start being realistic and stop acting like you can actually see your baby kicking anywhere at or above the belly button at 7-11 weeks. Baby still in the coochie bone. 🤦🏽‍♀️
