The mother-son relationship is unique

If you've just given birth to a baby boy, you're in for a special adventure, because the mother-son relationship is unique.

  • When you give birth to a child of the opposite sex, you are faced with the unknown: the male universe.
  • With a little girl, the bond is more intuitive, whereas, with your son, it is a matter of taming.
  • Several studies show that moms tend to nurture their sons because they are fascinated by their differences.
  • However, it is essential to find a balance between unconditional love and the risk of overprotection.
  • Don't forget to include dad in your mother-son relationship.

(Am i the bad guy?) My sons father and I are trying to make things work financially and in our relationship so we can be good parents because we love eachother and our son. My moms been there for me when he wasn’t but now that the only option I have is to move so we can both work while his aunt watches our son. She only cares about “take my grandson away” like what the hell!! Should I just cut her off because she’s being selfish as hell and I honestly can’t believe it.

No she's his grandma. She has a right to feel how she feels. Just let her know you'll let her see him and keep him

No you’re not the bad guy for wanting to do what’s best for your family. But when you become a mother you’ll understand she probably just wants the best for you and probably thinks your making a mistake. Hopefully she’ll get over it

I just learned another form of emotional incest between a mother and son can manifest in the form of a MIL trying to push her style and personal sense of femininity onto her DIL. Basically the MIL tries to make the DIL look as much like her as possible so her son will basically always see his mother in his wife. And if the DIL refuses to comply, MIL starts acting out and trying to sabotage the relationship through her son. Maybe this was why Norma was so insistent on trying to get Husband to control my appearance behind my back and why she would eventually start to get progressively more catty and rude to me in person over the years if she didn't like my piercings or anything I was wearing in her presence. It didn't matter how modest I presented at all. I just never looked anything like her and she couldn't see herself in a romantic relationship with her son through me in any way. 😬 I'm so glad I don't have to deal with that anymore. Who knows how much worse she was gonna get. Ms. Ma'am! Your son went for a black goth chick who looks and acts entirely different from you. I think that was very much on purpose, baby! 😜

my mother-in-law met me and my son (her grandson) on tuesday and now she’s ambushing me with a bunch of stuff for the baby/about the baby. i’m kinda uncomfortable cs i don’t know her at all i just met her after being in a relationship with her son for 16 months and it’s just so awkward to me that things can just move that smoothly . maybe im paranoid but i just don’t get how she’s so easygoing with the circumstances.

Despite what movies portrait, not all mother in laws are horrible people. Maybe you are blessed with having a good one ❤️

Good morning Mamas!!! My baby boy is kicking like crazy this morning 🥰😍🥰 I love feeling him move. There's nothing like the bond between a mother and her child 😊

My oldest two are autistic. Have you got them signed up for any extra programs? They can be helpful.

I am a 25 year old mother of 2. My son will be 3 in a week and my daughter is 1. Motherhood is truly a blessing but man is it emotionally and mentally exhausting.

Yes it is hard but I feel like the emotional phase will pass and you will soon be happy again. I had ppd and papa and im just learning to ignore it.

Me too! I've actually been dealing with depression and anxiety 14 years. Constantly on and off medication. Being a mom is so hard especially when their father works all the time.
