Should you let your baby cry?

Here is a question that has become an eternal debate, with some advising to let the baby cry and others rushing to the slightest cry. Let's get to the point!

  • Did you know that a healthy baby cries for an average of two hours a day, which is the only way for her to express hunger, anxieties, and little nuisances?
  • So, should we let him cry? Even among health professionals, the question is highly debated.
  • Dr. Ferber, the inventor of the 5-10-15 method, encourages parents to let babies cry before consoling them, to facilitate the establishment of their autonomy.
  • This method is questioned by some studies: the more a child cries, the more her stress and anxiety levels increase.
  • But opinions are unanimous in affirming that the only advice is to follow your instinct: if you can't bear to let your baby cry, console her!

Im soooo fucking tired of people saying “you need to let her cry you’re going to spoil her” you cant spoil and infant. Even doctors will tell you that. Its called being an attentive parent and your baby will learn that they can rely on you when they need you. Infants dont cry for no reason. A 9 month old can but not a newborn. Newborns dont know what manipulation is.

Letting your baby cry it out is abuse. You can't change my mind. If your baby is screaming their little heart out that they're red af and end up throwing up. You're a bad mom. It's one thing to put them somewhere safe to cool off if you're getting frustrated but to let them cry for an hour plus is disgusting. What is wrong with you?

So what would yall think of the "let your 2 month old cry. Like if you have a spoiled baby. A2 month old won't cry for long" bc first of all how tf you spoil a newborn? 2nd of all wtf you mean a 2 month old won't cry long? You mean until they cry themselves to sleep bc clearly u talking about not picking them up and oh wtf?? Ah if the baby's dry and fed u know nothing is wrong so u let them cry?I show a whiny dog more sympathy than that like wtf. I can see if mom needs a break bc baby won't let up or is letting baby fuss while finishing a task like sweeping, dishes, laundry, but a 2 month old won't cry 4 long? Idk not my baby. So how do yall feel about newborns being spoiled? Is that possible? What age can they learn this? Also how do u feel about a baby not sleeping good by themselves so you let them cry? Sounds like the cry it out sleep train method? I wanna hear all views but 4 me Issa hard fucking no. Not no 8 week old baby. I know cheese older than that 😳

I definitely disagree. I’m not letting my baby cry if I can help it. The longest she’s cried was for me to finish using the restroom! They can call it what they want….spoiled or whatever but she’s mine and it’s my pleasure to be there to meet all of her needs, and that includes rocking her and holding her until her little heart is content💖

Yes I will let my daughter cry it out AFTER I have fed her and changed her diaper. No it does not make me a bad mom. Sometimes babies need to cry it so they learn to sooth themselves… and this is why I hate my family sometimes.. 😤😣🙄

What’s y’all opinion on letting your baby “cry it out” or not picking them up when their crying for you? You know some people say picking them up everytime they cry will spoil them. I don’t think imma be able to just let my baby cry until they just stop 😩

Your baby is brand new in this world. The only thing they know is you, and your heartbeat, you carried them for 9 months, they need you, they rely on you. “Spoiling” them by holding them too much is the biggest bullshit I’ve ever heard in my life 🤦🏼‍♀️. You are their calm in this new world. You are their safe space. You are all they know. So for the love pick up your baby and comfort them. You won’t spoil them. It’s loving them.

also i want to know everyone’s take on letting their child “cry it out” Personally i will NEVER EVER let my daughter cry it out. I hold her and tell her i am here and i will never leave. The last thing i want my baby to think or feel is that her mommy is just sitting here letting my cry, or that she feels alone. Everyone i know says to step out of the room and let them cry for a few mins for you to get a few mins but i did it once and that few mins i got to myself consisted of me WORRYING about my baby. I just can’t let her cry it out, i can’t.

Never. They can't speak our language yet and can't do for themselves. Just letting them cry feels cruel to me imo. It might not seem like it but there is always a reason. My boy just be over here chillin' because he understands by now that I always got him. He only cries if he's uncomfortable or he needs comfort since we follow all his cues since birth. After we got the hang of his body language and all that, we've been golden.
