As you embark on this adventure, it's essential to take care of your health and well-being, including keeping an eye on iron deficiency anemia. 💪
What is Iron Deficiency Anemia? 🤔
During pregnancy, your body goes through incredible changes to nurture and support the growing life within you.
However, this also means an increased demand for nutrients, especially iron! Iron is a vital mineral that helps your body produce hemoglobin, the molecule responsible for carrying oxygen to your baby and the rest of your body.
Iron deficiency anemia occurs when your iron levels drop, resulting in reduced oxygen transport and leaving you feeling fatigued, weak, and lightheaded.
But fret not! There are simple ways to prevent and address this condition. 😉
Be a Supermom - Boost Your Iron Intake! 🥦🍎
To combat iron deficiency anemia, you need to include iron-rich foods in your diet. Incorporate delicious options like spinach, lentils, tofu, lean meats, and fortified cereals to increase your iron levels naturally. 😋 Combining these foods with vitamin C-rich sources, such as oranges or bell peppers, can enhance iron absorption.
Also, avoid consuming calcium or caffeine-rich products during iron-rich meals, as they can hinder iron absorption. Instead, sip on herbal teas or indulge in decaf beverages as alternatives.
Remember, you are what you eat, so feed yourself with the power of iron! 💪
🥦 Dark leafy greens: Spinach, kale, and collard greens are iron-packed wonders!
🍎 Fruits: Apples, dried apricots, and pomegranates are both tasty and iron-rich!
Harness the Power of Prenatal Supplements! 💊🌈
Ensuring adequate iron levels can sometimes be challenging through diet alone. That's where prenatal supplements come to the rescue!
These superhero pills are designed to provide essential nutrients, including iron, folic acid, and calcium, all in one go.
🦸♀️ Make sure to choose doctor-recommended supplements, as not all products are created equal. Also, timing is key!
Taking your prenatal supplements with a vitamin C-rich snack will optimize iron absorption.
Remember, it's okay to ask your healthcare provider for suggestions tailored to your needs. Stay empowered and supplement smartly! 💊
Balance Rest and Exercise for Optimum Health! 🤸♀️💤
As you embark on this beautiful pregnancy journey, striking a balance between rest and exercise is crucial! Gentle prenatal exercises like yoga, swimming, and walking can improve circulation and boost energy levels. Don't forget to rest and catch up on your beauty sleep, as fatigue is a common symptom of iron deficiency anemia.
Embrace naps and prioritize sleep, and you'll be glowing throughout your pregnancy! 😴💕
🤸♀️ Yoga: A perfect way to stay active and de-stress during pregnancy!
💤 Sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night for optimal health!
Celebrate Your Journey - Regular Check-ups Matter! 🎉👩⚕️
You're doing an amazing job nurturing your little one! Remember, it's crucial to monitor your iron levels regularly during pregnancy.
Make sure to attend all your prenatal check-ups with your healthcare provider.
These visits help assess your iron status, ensuring any signs of anemia are caught early.
With the right guidance and support, you can have a healthy and enjoyable pregnancy, full of memorable moments! 🎈🤗

I have iron deficiency anemia. So I have to go get an iron infusion soon. I been taking 2 iron pills a day but still feeling kinda weak at work and dizzy. Sometimes I have these moments when I feel weak and even get blurred vision and I passed out like 2 weeks ago. I just hope I feel better soon. This is the worst, plus the pelvic pain I’m having as well. In 35 weeks and 2 days
so my glucose came back normal , no diabetes . but comes to find out i have anemia .. my iron is low . & theyre sending me some type of iron medicine . & theyre talking bout an infusion. has dis happened to anyone ? because im a lil worried . i need help & reassure ..
My iron was low as well they sent in an iron pill the meds should help bring it up but if not they can do the iron transfusion.

I need some help! So I've been diagnosed with anemia (pretty normal for me during pregnancy) but I cannot take the iron supplement as it makes me so violently sick I get nose bleeds. I've tried it at night and during different times of the day, with and without food, but it results in the same. We are trying to up my iron just by my diet now. I know shellfish, red meat and dark leafy greens are good sources, but what about quick grab items? Any suggestions?
Thank you!

Edited to say I do drink fresh juice made from a NAMA juicer (which I love) and I've been heavy on the spinach with it.
Maybe a smoothie might help or cold press juice ❤️

I did, I'm anemic anyway....but I just ate more fruits and veggies with iron on top.of my iron pills

I’m to the point that I’m going through a whole bag of ice in a day. I have iron deficiency anemia , but the pills make my stomach hurt and constipation worse , my last pregnancy I had to get an iron infusion and I only got 2of4 of the sessions, i didn’t even make it out the hospital and went straight to the ER because I was crying in pain right after. Idk what else to do here 🤧
Have you tried the slow iron. It’s causes no problems on your stomach…

I jus got some lab results back from my Doctor .. she says the lab results shows I have “ mild pregnancy anemia “ due to my iron being low!! I have to take iron pills now , hopefully that helps my body build iron back up .. Mild pregnancy anemia happens when your blood volume increases & it happens mainly in the second & third trimester bc we lack the amount of iron we need … & it isn’t bad as if it would be in the first trimester or if I had severe pregnancy anemia … I guess this explains why I’ve been feeling weak for the past days, I been telling my boyfriend I’ve been weak lately & my body been shaking a lot .. but I’m ok, jus gonna take those pills & see what happens after that!!
I got diagnosed my first trimester due to me already being anemic! The iron pills suck honestly lol

I'm having to take ferrous sulfate iron pills once a day to help with my iron deficiency/anemia and they make me so sick to my stomach for a good 15-20 minutes after.
Anyone else experience this? Or have any tips?
I've tried it both with food and on an empty stomach and it doesn't seem to change anything.
Have you tried eating an iron rich diet to see if that brings it up

I tried that for a couple weeks after my blood work showed I was low but there was no change so my doctor prescribed me the pills instead 😩 I'm suppose to be on them for the next 4 weeks and I just don't know how if I feel sick every time.

Anyone else having trouble getting enough sleep due to being anemic brought on by iron deficiency? I just can’t seem to get enough rest, and I’m always fatigued and sluggish
I’m awaiting my Glucose results and I’m nervous because I don’t normally eat sweets, I don’t drink soda, and I drink a lot of water. Since I’ve gotten pregnant I eat junk food, sweets, and sugary drinks. It sucks because this isn’t like me.. Smh
I’m awaiting those results now but I found out today that I’m going to need an Iron Transfusion soon. I have Iron pills and I have Iron Deficiency Anemia, and my iron levels are still low. I’m almost 33 weeks pregnant. They explained it to me. They’re going to hook me to an IV and basically pump Iron into me. I’m nervous as hell because this is so new to me. Has anyone ever had an Iron infusion. Does it hurt? How do you feel during and afterwards? How long does it take? I’m nervous..😭😭😭 (I thought it was called an Iron Transfusion but when I looked it up on YouTube, everyone called it an Iron Infusion)
What levels do you have to be to get the iron infusions? I'm anemic but not once have they mentioned the infusions. As far as the glucose test, you can be the absolute healthiest person on the planet, with the cleanest diet, etc etc & still have gestational diabetes. It just happens for some people. I don't have the best eating habits, but I passed. Even if you do have it, it's manageable

If your doctor hasn’t said anything about it, your levels might be good. Especially if you’ve been taking your Iron pills but me? I’ve been missing days and my prescription got delayed. My hemoglobin was an 8.7, which is hella low🤦🏽♀️
