IVF: how does it work?

If you're planning to have an IVF procedure to conceive a baby, how many appointments are you going to have and what are the main steps involved? Here are the answers.

  • First, you'll need to see a gynecologist to discuss your conception problems.
  • At the end of this appointment, they will prescribe a series of tests and examinations for you and your partner to better target the cause of your infertility.
  • A second appointment with the gynecologist will allow you to receive the results of the tests and enter into the MAP protocol.
  • Finally, the last meeting before the beginning of the treatment will allow you to put together the MAP file and to obtain the last prescriptions for new biological analyses.

Yes! I’m right at 22 weeks now. At around 17 weeks we had a scare with elevated afp. We’ve had three scans to rule out any abnormalities with babies spine (as elevated afp can be an indication of spina bifida). That was super scary, but Baby boy has been perfect. I’ve never really thought there was any correlation between IVF, but I don’t know if they have enough research yet to really know? We had the afp levels checked again at the 20 week mark and even though baby was perfect the levels were still Slightly elevated. (m.o.m was 2.6 both times).

So my doctor wants to do a surgery to remove some of my endometriosis and flush out my tube , I have been trying for way to long now and hope this procedure will work before I start paying for IVF , since my tube removal due to an eptopic pregnancy I haven’t been able to get pregnant again and it’s been weighing heavy on my emotions I just want to know what’s wrong with me at this point , has anyone ever gotten this done before,,,????
