Fetal Hearing Begins

Fetal Hearing Begins
In the fifteenth week of your pregnancy, a remarkable development unfolds—the ability for your baby to hear begins.
The Significance of Fetal Hearing
The onset of fetal hearing is a pivotal step in your baby's sensory development.
  • Sound Perception: Your baby's ability to hear opens the door to perceiving sounds from the outside world.
  • Bonding: Hearing your voice and other sounds can contribute to a sense of bonding even before birth.
Early Sound Perception
During this week, your baby's auditory system starts to become active.
  • Sound Transmission: Sounds from your body, such as your heartbeat and digestive noises, are among the first to reach your baby.
  • External Sounds: While it's still early, some external sounds may be faintly heard by your baby.
Week 15 marks an exciting moment in your pregnancy journey as your baby's ability to hear begins.
Even though it's in its early stages, this development sets the stage for your baby to connect with the sounds of the world outside the womb.

They have plenty room especially at 10wk s they’re still very small. Baby is fine. Also remember your uterus is a 3D object so baby may be deeper inside and not close to the front where the Doppler would go.

I'm so excited, Beau bought me a fetal doppler and I got to hear our baby's heartbeat. My first ultrasound they want to do at 10wks since this is our rainbow baby. That being said I have had so much anxiety waiting for September 5th; hearing my little is so settling.

Says you should be able to hear baby’s heart beat between 18-20 weeks. I have a stethoscope at home and downloaded a fetal Doppler app, but I’m not hearing anything. Suggestions?

Yes you should most definitely hear it by now. I heard mine as early as 6 weeks. You should contact your OB immediately they should be able to hear it and you should have had some ultrasounds by now

I have, I feel the baby move around fine every day haha and have had two ultra sounds and my anatomy scan on Friday. I’m not concerned about the baby, but I just wanna hear the heart beat on my own.
