Can Orgasm Trigger Contractions?

Can Orgasm Trigger Contractions?
Let's explore the relationship between orgasms and contractions during pregnancy and understand what you need to know.
Increased Blood Flow and Uterine Contractions
  • Orgasms can cause an increase in blood flow to the pelvic area, including the uterus. This increased blood flow can lead to temporary uterine contractions. These contractions are usually mild and commonly referred to as Braxton Hicks contractions or practice contractions.
  • Braxton Hicks contractions are usually irregular, shorter in duration, and not associated with labor. They are a normal part of pregnancy and are considered a way for the uterus to prepare for the upcoming birth.
Effects on Preterm Labor
  • While orgasms can trigger uterine contractions, it is important to note that orgasms alone do not typically induce preterm labor or cause any harm to the baby in a healthy pregnancy.
  • However, if you have been advised by your healthcare provider to avoid sexual activity or orgasms due to specific complications in your pregnancy, it is essential to follow their guidance.
Consult with Your Healthcare Provider
  • It is always recommended to consult with your healthcare provider about any concerns or questions you may have regarding sexual activity and orgasm during pregnancy.
  • Your healthcare provider is familiar with your medical history and can provide personalized advice based on your unique situation.
Safety Precautions
While orgasms are generally considered safe during a healthy pregnancy, there are situations in which sexual activity and orgasm may need to be avoided.
Some conditions that may require sexual activity restrictions include:

It feels like your whole belly is tightening kinda like a charlie horse but in your belly. It takes my breath away when it happens but it goes away pretty fast if you drink some cold water at least it does for me

SEX TALK- IFY* Warning My doc always advised me not to let my significant other release inside of me while pregnant because it can trigger contractions. I got besides myself and he ended up doing it. Now for the pass hour I’ve been feeling contractions every 20 mins or so light nothing to hard. So mommies if you are further along and baby needs an eviction notice. This would be the way 🫠😊

same!! orgasms tend to bring on braxton hicks for me unfortunately 😓 it’s just the uterus contracting during orgasm and it’s the same when you endure braxton hicks.
