Breast Lumps

Breast Lumps: What You Need to Know During Pregnancy
Breast lumps can be caused by a variety of factors, including hormonal changes and increased blood flow to the breast tissue during pregnancy.
Most breast lumps encountered during this time are non-cancerous and known as fibroadenomas or cysts.
Fibroadenomas are smooth, round, and rubbery, while cysts are fluid-filled sacs. These lumps often develop due to normal hormonal fluctuations and breast tissue growth.
When to Seek Medical Attention 🏥
While most breast lumps during pregnancy are harmless, it's essential to be vigilant and seek medical attention if you notice any changes or have concerns. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience any of the following:
  1. New lump or mass: If you discover a new lump or mass in your breast, it's crucial to have it evaluated, even if it feels soft or movable.
  2. Changes in the lump: Pay attention to any changes in the size, shape, or texture of the lump. If it becomes hard, irregular, or painful, it's important to get it checked.
  3. Nipple discharge: Any discharge from the nipple, especially if it's bloody or spontaneous, should be evaluated by your doctor.
  4. Rapid growth: If a lump grows rapidly over a short period, it's advisable to have it examined to rule out any concerns.
Remember, it's better to err on the side of caution and have any breast changes assessed by a healthcare professional.
Taking Care of Your Breast Health 🌟
Maintaining good breast health during pregnancy is essential for your overall well-being. Here are some tips to help you take care of your breasts:
  1. Regular self-exams: Perform breast self-exams monthly to become familiar with your breast tissue. By doing so, you can easily identify any changes or new lumps.
  2. Wear a supportive bra: Invest in a well-fitting, supportive bra that provides comfort and minimizes any breast discomfort or pain.
  3. Practice good hygiene: Keep your breasts clean and dry to prevent any skin irritations or infections. Avoid using harsh soaps or lotions on your breasts, as they can strip away natural oils.
  4. Maintain a healthy lifestyle: Eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and getting enough rest can contribute to your overall health, including breast health. Aim for a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins.

First time mom here … Can any breast feeding moms comment ?? I just had my baby 3 days ago and we’re breast feeding tonight I noticed that I have some small lumps/ knots in my breast, however I’m still producing milk and my boobs aren’t sore or hurting they are a little tight to touch but not cement hard. They aren’t super swollen neither , I’m scared it maybe engorged? But I don’t know being that this is my first time breast feeding. My drs office is closed until Sunday, I really don’t have anyone else to ask ..

You should be fine. You should expect your breast to become enlarged due to the milk you’re producing. I don’t think you should worry about that

It’s normal. Dr told me it’s because her stomach isn’t fully formed. Her dad was freaking out too 😂

Has anyone experienced lumps in their breast around this time I found a small lump near my armpit area and I called my dr. To see if i can be seen to examine they said they didn’t have anything available but that is common around this time due to the milk ducts forming now ! I’m a FTM and just want to rule out everything. So has anyone else had lumps or experienced early milk ducts

Mothers I have a question!? Did any of y’all experience a change in only one breast. I have reddish/brownish stretch marks only on one breast and it’s been hurting, tingling and itching. My doctor checked for lumps and cleared me from breast cancer but said it’s just swelling. Should I be worried still?

Yes! I have something similar going on with my right breast only. Everyone I talk to said it’s normal and it might go away after pregnancy.
