Advantages and disadvantages of the baby pacifier

In France, about 7 out of 10 children suck on a pacifier regularly. What are the beneficial and harmful effects of pacifiers on babies?

  • Like many parents, you probably see the pacifier as a miracle solution. Indeed, sucking calms your baby's cries and helps him fall asleep. It also reduces the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
  • On the other hand, the baby's pacifier would promote ear infections and deformities when used for too long.
  • You have to find a balance in order to give your baby the pleasure of a pacifier while taking care of his health!

same with my son if he doesn't hold his pacifier he goes crazy and then sometimes I have to hold it for him and I ended up falling asleep and holding the pacifier and the next thing I knew it he's out and he spit out the pacifier he's been holding it when he wants to

When did you stop your baby from using their pacifier ? Or when do you plan to stop them My brother is saying that I need to stop my daughter from using it because her teeth will be messed up, my daughter is 5 months will be 6 months on the 7th but she uses her pacifier to sleep or calm down her self

Any breastfeeding mamas that chose not to give a pacifier or baby didn’t want the pacifier? How’s it it going or how did it go? Was the baby relying on the boob for soothing?

My 14 month old was offered a pacifier after a month old and he wanted nothing to do with it. He also wanted nothing to do with bottles either. He was but a fan of getting off the boob but he went to a cup. Honestly over all it wasn’t that bad. He did use my boobs to soothe himself or I should say I used them to soothe him when he was upset. I really don’t feel like that was an issue to get over. I’m not sure I will be offering a pacifier to my newborn. I am going to try harder for him to take a bottle

Thanks for sharing. At first I figured no pacifier could be nice but It’s just exhausting whipping out the boob every hour he’s awake 😅

Other than Tylenol and putting the pacifier in the freezer, what do ya recommend doing for a teething baby. He’s almost 4months.

I’m in the same boat. My 4 month old daughter bites on everything including fingers (Clean ones) but I’m about to try putting one of her washcloths in the freezer and see if she enjoys that on her gums

Let me know how that is. I don’t know why but I’d feel a little weird doing that. I be wanting to make sure that everything is clean and sanitary.
