The motor skills of a baby

Your baby will quickly take giant steps in terms of motor skills' development.

  • The first few months are when your baby's motor skills make the most progress: reflex movements gradually give way to real gestures and postures.
  • By the third or fourth month, a baby can coordinate eye and hand.
  • By the sixth month, he or she can roll over on their own and hold their head.
  • By age one, babies can stand, crawl, and take a few steps with your help.

My daughter has her evaluation to see if we qualify for Early interventions today, and I am so nervous! I can’t seem to completely let go of the idea that I am to blame for her being developmentally behind with her gross motor skills.

Ok mommas ! I need help! I am posting this here because I feel like this is the appropriate spot. I am on my 3rd baby, ending my first trimester. I have hypothyroidism and because I wasn’t suppose to be able to have more babies ( this is a blessing ) I didn’t find out I was pregnant until 7 weeks. I have hypothyroidism, always have taken levo. But my level was really high (20) the first prenatal lab draw. They increased my meds, but I’m still not completely leveled out. I know they say mommas hormones are sooo important in the first trimester for brain and motor skill development. I am soooooo worried ! Anyone else have something similar? How are your beautiful babies now ? Please help !

Any Autism Mommy's around? My almost 5year old son is Autistic and Non-Verbal. Feel free to follow me, whether for support, questions related to autism or unrelated, or just to help spread awareness, I welcome you all! #Autism=Awesome How early were you able to notice your child may possibly be on the spectrum and what gave you the hint? *i knew around maybe 7months oold or so my son didn't reach any of the early motor skills or milestones my other children shared on time, rolling over, crawling, using his legs to stand up, unable to walk until about 15months, he would open and close his hands rather quickly (hand flapping), he rubbed his feet together when he was over stimulated, (Stemming) and had a fixation with corners, (that's what we called his blanket cuz he always stroked the corner when falling asleep) and wouldn't try most foods because of the texture. Without hearing of it before something told me specifically in my head "He's Autistic" strange as that sounds after some random lady's unwarranted comment about my son while waiting at the Dr's office, and as soon as I researched early signs I knew my intuition was right and we had him professionally diagnosed around 20 months or so.

6 Autism Communication Strategies Join in with non-verbal cues. Hand gestures and eye contact are essential body language activities that we all do and are widely recognised. ... Imitate to build mutual respect. ... Use flashcards. ... Keep talking. ... Practice sign language or Makaton. ... Communication passports.

thank you for sharing. Though his is non-verbal, he is quite vocal. He doesn't speak plain English but gibberish we call it speaking Meech. His father and i know his cues and ways of communication and can easily understand what he's telling us. He doesn't mimic hand gestures unfortunately I had planned to teach him sign language well before he arrived. He was registered to receive home visits with about 5 therapists right before Covid hit and are working to get back into the swing of things once we have relocated.
