Baby is Born! What happens right after birth?

Baby is born! What happens right after birth?
You've made it through the incredible journey of pregnancy, and now it's time to welcome your precious bundle of joy into the world.
As you prepare for this magical moment, let's explore what happens right after birth, so you can feel informed and empowered.
Meeting Your Little Wonder
The moment your baby is born is nothing short of miraculous.
After months of anticipation, you finally get to lay eyes on your tiny creation.
As the medical team assists with the delivery, your little one is placed directly on your chest for skin-to-skin contact.
This intimate bonding time is not only emotionally fulfilling but also has important benefits for both you and your baby.
Taking the First Breath
As soon as your baby enters the world, they'll take their very first breath.
It's an awe-inspiring moment!
The transition from receiving oxygen through the umbilical cord to breathing independently triggers a remarkable reflex.
Your baby's lungs will expand, filling with air for the first time.
This initiates a series of physiological changes as they adjust to life outside the womb.
Cord Clamping and Cutting
Shortly after birth, the medical team will clamp and cut the umbilical cord.
This cord, which provided essential nutrients and oxygen to your baby throughout pregnancy, is no longer needed.
The process is quick and painless, allowing your baby to begin their journey as an independent little being.
In some cases, delayed cord clamping is practiced, allowing for a few extra minutes of blood flow from the placenta to the baby, which can have potential health benefits.
Apgar Score and Health Assessments
Within the first few minutes after birth, your baby will undergo a series of health assessments to ensure they are thriving.
One of the most common evaluations is the Apgar score, a quick assessment of the baby's overall well-being.
This includes evaluating their heart rate, breathing, muscle tone, reflexes, and skin color.
It helps healthcare providers determine if any immediate interventions or additional support is needed.
Bonding and First Feeding
After the initial assessments, it's time for that magical first feeding!
Whether you choose to breastfeed or bottle-feed, this special moment strengthens the bond between you and your baby.
Your body is equipped with the remarkable ability to produce colostrum, the nutrient-rich first milk.
This liquid gold is packed with antibodies and essential nutrients, providing your baby with a strong start in life.

It's been 5 years since I had a baby. I forgot, how long do the baby supposed to not come outside after birth? An is anyone going to let family an friends come over to see there baby after baby is born?

I waited 6 weeks when I had my son. I mean we went outside for walks when he was a few weeks to get fresh air but no company. I like the 6 weeks just because baby's immune system is so fragile. and covid hit hard back in 2020 when they shut everything down so we stayed inside. It's hitting hard in my area again. Whatever you feel is best for you and baby and don't let anyone make you feel bad about YOUR decision. It's your baby❤️

Do you have to wait to get pregnant right after a birth? Asking for the future plans. 🫶🏻

I think the “recommended” time to wait is 18 months but from what I’ve seen a lot of people don’t, and are still usually fine. I think it depends on the person and perhaps some factors like if it was a c section, risk factors, healing, age etc but I would ask the doctor to be sure 🥰

Am I the only one who doesn't want visitors after giving birth? Am I a bad person because I don't want any family or friends to come visit us in our home till 3 weeks after baby is born? Cause I don't think I am🤷‍♀️

So when my baby is born She has to get a shunt to get the fluid out. I want to be able to be there for her when that happens if they allow me. They can’t say no to that right. They’re literally doing surgery on her brain right after she’s born and that scares me.
