Conjunctivitis in babies
Baby's eyes are fragile and easily prone to conjunctivitis. Here are some tips to help deal with conjunctivitis in babies:
- Conjunctivitis can be bacterial, viral, or allergy-related.
- If conjunctivitis is viral, it often affects both eyes and is very contagious.
- Consult your pediatrician, who will prescribe an antibiotic or antiseptic eye drop, depending on the type of conjunctivitis.
- Wash your hands thoroughly before applying the eye drops.
- Choose single-dose eye drops, which are not likely to be contaminated.
- Use a dry compress for each eye, so you won't contaminate the other eye.
- Regularly clean the entrance to the tear ducts to remove impurities.
