How to choose a baby bottle sterilizer?

Cold or steam, microwave or electric... There are several models of sterilizers to remove bacteria from baby bottles, consequently limiting the risk of infection.

  • Before sterilizing a baby's bottle, make sure it's clean, washed with water, and dishwashing liquid or marseille soap.
  • You can cold sterilize the bottle by immersing it for 30 minutes in a special tray filled with water, in which you melt two tablets that are safe for the baby.
  • The electric sterilizer kills bacteria with its steam during a ten-minute program. It can hold up to nine bottles and often appeals to parents because of its ease of use.
  • Suitable for parents in a hurry and less bulky than the electric one, the microwave sterilizer is composed of a tray and a lid to replicate the oven system during five-minute cycles.

I bought some more stuff for baby girl, everything should be here by Saturday. Got the bassinet, a bottle warmer that doubles as a sterilizer, an actual bottle sterilizer, and an ubbi diaper pail (idk if it works, but I have a litter genie for my cats that works lol. Same thing just different brand 🤷🏽‍♀️). I have some diapers and wipes, but the fam did not come through with many at the baby shower, which is okay lol. I can buy more since I have my registry completion discounts. I need to go through the ones we have to check the sizing and start organizing. Gonna go make a checklist 🤣 and I'm just remembering about my hospital bag as I type lol. I need to get that ready also 😭. I feel so unprepared.

Dont worry i didnt even have a baby shower bc ik my fam would disappoint and i felt superrr unprepared but you had more than me at the time so you’re deff prepared! Dont stress! Hospital bag wise goes based on labor tbh i wasn’t going to buy anything until after i gave birth i was ging to give my man a list n send him before i got discharged or day of discharge but due to the type of labor i had i didnt need anything except pads! Like literally nothing but pads

Any other moms bought a bottle sterilizer too? My family said it was so unnecessary and how it’s nothing wrong with washing the baby bottles in the sink with the rest of the dishes which I will not be doing! 😂 idc feel like it’s safer and cleaner for my son anyways, if I’m buying it it shouldn’t be a problem anyways

They’ll of course be rinsed and cleaned prior to being put inside the sterilizer but they won’t even touch the sink, too many germs 😭

It is not unnecessary at all. Plus it saves time on boiling the water and drying it and all that extra shit cuz trust me it’s a hassle when you have to do it multiple times a day

Is a bottle sterilizer really necessary? Can I just wash them and let them air dry or boil them?

It's not necessary at all. Soap and water work just fine.

It's good to sterilize right out the package but then just hot water and soap are fine. Your house isn't sterile, baby is exposed to lots of germs!

You can boil them or use sterilizer if you have one. I used to boil bottles with my 2 babies but with my third I got babybrezza bottle sterilizer.

Is a bottle sterilizer a necessity? Or is putting in the dishwasher and steam drying it efficient enough?
