Pregnancy can bring about a myriad of changes, including fluctuations in sexual desire.
For some women, libido may decrease due to hormonal changes, discomfort, or fatigue, while others may experience an increase.
Here are seven tips to help manage and potentially boost your libido during pregnancy.
1. Communicate Openly with Your Partner
Open communication is key.
Discuss your feelings, desires, and any apprehensions with your partner.
Understanding and patience from both sides can help maintain intimacy and connection, regardless of physical changes.
Discuss Physical and Emotional Changes: Share how your body and emotions are changing.
Express Needs and Desires: Be honest about your sexual needs and desires during pregnancy.
2. Stay Physically Active
Regular exercise can boost energy levels, enhance your mood, and improve body image, all of which can contribute to a healthier libido.
Prenatal Exercise: Engage in doctor-approved prenatal exercises.
Boost Endorphins: Physical activity increases endorphins, which can enhance sexual desire.
3. Focus on Emotional Intimacy
Sometimes, focusing on emotional intimacy can reignite physical passion.
Spend quality time together, engage in non-sexual touch, and nurture your emotional connection.
Date Nights: Regular date nights can keep the romance alive.
Cuddle and Touch: Hugging, kissing, and cuddling can maintain closeness.
4. Experiment with Comfortable Positions
As your body changes, finding comfortable and enjoyable sexual positions becomes important.
Be Creative: Experiment with different positions to find what feels best.
Use Pillows for Support: Pillows can provide extra comfort and support during sex.
5. Manage Stress and Fatigue
Stress and fatigue can significantly dampen libido.
Managing these effectively can help in maintaining a healthy sex drive.
Prioritize Rest: Ensure you're getting enough sleep and rest.
Stress-Relief Techniques: Try relaxation techniques such as prenatal yoga or meditation.
6. Enhance Self-Image
Pregnancy can change how you feel about your body. Embracing these changes and enhancing your self-image can positively impact your libido.
Positive Self-Talk: Practice positive affirmations about your body.
Pamper Yourself: Engage in activities that make you feel good about yourself, like a prenatal massage or a nice haircut.
7. Consult with Your Healthcare Provider
If you have concerns about your libido or sexual activity during pregnancy, talking to your healthcare provider can provide reassurance and advice.
Address Medical Concerns: Discuss any physical or emotional concerns that might be affecting your libido.
Seek Professional Advice: Your doctor can offer guidance tailored to your specific pregnancy needs.
Experiencing changes in libido during pregnancy is normal and varies for each individual.
By focusing on communication, physical and emotional intimacy, comfort, stress management, self-image, and seeking professional advice when needed, you can navigate these changes more smoothly.
Remember, every pregnancy is unique, and what's most important is finding a balance that works for you and your partner during this special time.
Alrighty so my period is about to end and the hubby and I are going to give it another try 🥰. This is month 7 TTC for baby #2 and I hope this month is it! Does any one have any fertility boosting tips? #ttc
i know walking consistently is a really good thing that helped me stop gaining rapidly. light exercises are supposedly more helpful when pregnant if you didn’t really work out before. but also remember that you’re gaining weight because you’re helping out another human, literally growing one. ❤️ i know that’s not the answer you’re looking for but i always forget that when i weigh myself.
